I was born a Southerner, but I don’t have a Southern heart. I have been around the world and with reluctant acceptance I have returned and will stay. There is a beauty, stability, and comfort here, and so I will call it home. But there is also a history that weighs on my soul and creates a restlessness that stays with me, suffocates me, here.
